In general, the larger wheel glides faster and the smaller wheel accelerates faster because the smaller wheel starts with less resistance, and the larger wheel glides faster at the same speed.
At a certain sliding speed, the bearing wear caused by the increase of the rotation speed is small, especially for long plates. Big wheels glide faster on rough surfaces by a few millimeters.
Skateboard wheel manufacturers suggest that you can choose the outer diameter of the wheel according to road conditions. The larger the wheel diameter, the better the ability to pass obstacles. However, this is not the same thing as traversing obstacles (like a skate park) on a slippery surface. Polyurethane wheels can be up to 99mm in diameter, but due to the low deck surface and the use of movable head axles, wheel bites may occur.
The contact width refers to the contact width of the wheel with the ground when sliding. The wider the contact width, the better the grip performance, less slipping or local wear. Narrow wheels are weak and prone to slipping. Excessive pressure is easy to wear or local wear. The shape of the side of the wheel affects the effect of sideslip and grip.
